The Occupational Health and Safety, Civil Defense Centre (OHSCDC) at the Faculty of Medicine and Life Sciences of the University of Latvia offers a wide range of professional and scientific services to Latvian companies. The Centre specialises in occupational health, human factors and ergonomics, business efficiency (LEAN) and civil protection.

Our mission is to help develop a safe, ergonomic, efficient and innovative work environment where every employee feels safe and comfortable, using their full creative potential!

The aim of the Centre is to implement and develop solutions based on science and practice to provide organisations with a modern and innovative approach to occupational health, ergonomics, business efficiency, safety and civil protection.

  • Audit and consultations in Occupational health and safety, human factors and ergonomics
  • ERGO-LEAN audits on modern organisational effectiveness and well-being at work
  • Consultations on risk factors in the working environment, including ergonomic and psychosocial factors, and methods for their assessment
  • Applied assessment of workload using subjective and objective methods and measurements
  • Public health specialist services for health promotion at work
  • Education in occupational health and safety, ergonomics, business efficiency, including workshops, training and further training with active participation of employees
  • Training and implementation of efficiency methods (LEAN) in organisations, incl. Agile/Scrum, LEAN/Kaizen/Kanban
  • Improvement of human resource management by applying modern and innovative management methods
  • Academic and scientific activities, including research, publications and participation in study programs.
